The biggest upset on the women's singles side at Wimbledon 2009 through the third round is that of Melanie Oudin beating No. 6 seed Jelena Jankovic. Oudin beat Jankovic, the former world No. 1, 6-7, 7-5, 6-2.

Oudin, a 17-year-old American, was selected for Fed Ex Cup play earlier this year. She had to win three qualifying matches to get into this Wimbledon, but will move into the Top 100 singles rankings regardless of what she does after this.

Kirsten Flipkens

China's Jie Zheng was a winner on Day 1 of the 2009 Wimbledon, but she had to work for it. Zheng, the No. 16 seed, defeated Kristina Barrois 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-4).

Magdalena Rybarikova

It was career win No. 1 in WTA singles for Magdalena Rybarikova at the Edgbaston Classic in London. Rybarikova, from Slovakia, defeated Li Na in the final, 6-0, 7-6, after knocking off Maria Sharapova in the semifinals. Rybarikova was ranked 58th entering the tournament and will move up in the new rankings - perhaps moving past her previous best ranking of No. 46.

Svetlana Kuznetsova

Your 2009 French Open champion, Svetlana Kuznetsova. Kuznetsova, the No. 7 seed, defeated the top-seeded Dinara Safina, 6-4, 6-2. It's her second Grand Slam singles title; she also won the 2004 U.S. Open.

Dominika Cibulkova

Dominika Cibulkova put an end to Maria Sharapova's Grand Slam return, slamming Masha 6-0, 6-2 in the French Open quarterfinals. Cibulkova is the No. 20 seed at the French, and she moved on to her first-ever Grand Slam semifinals appearance.

Sorana Cirstea gained one of the biggest wins of her young career at the French Open in the fourth round. The Romanian teen defeated former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic,
3-6, 6-0, 9-7, to move into the quarterfinals. Cirstea is a clay court specialist ranked No. 40 in the world.
