Currently ranked 30th in the world, the Ukraine’s Alona Bondarenko has six career WTA titles.
She has been ranked as high as 19th in singles (April 14, 2008) and 11th in doubles (Sept. 29, 2008). She played her first Tour main draws in 2003, then cracked the Top 100 for the first time in 2005, making the final at Mirza and debuting at No. 85. She made the main draw at all four Grand Slams and reached the third round at Wimbledon.
In 2006, she breached the Top 40, won her first Tour singles title (at Luxembourg) and rose from No. 62 to No. 33 after. She also won her first Tour doubles title.
In 2007, she had her best season to date, reaching at least the quarterfinals seven times, and making the third round of the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open. She made her Top 20 debut after the Australian and finished No. 22 for the year. She also surpassed $1 million in career prize money earnings, the first Ukrainian player to do so.
She slipped to 32nd in 2008, making one semifinal and five quarterfinals and the third round of the US Open. She rose to No. 19 on April 14 and spent three weeks in the Top 20.
She won her first-ever Grand Slam in doubles, taking the Australian Open with her sister Kateryna, just the second pair of sisters to ever win a Grand Slam doubles title.
In 2009, she finished 32nd again, reaching the third round of the Australian Open.
