Lucie Safarova was seeded No. 27 at the 2011 US Open. We use the past-tense "was" because Lucie got knocked out in the third round. Unlike Lucie herself, the loss wasn't pretty: 0-6, 1-6 to Monica Niculescu. Ouch.
Lucie, from the Czech Republic, is a winner of four WTA singles titles. She entered the 2011 USO ranked No. 26.
